AIDC 2010 aims to connect Australia with the world and the world with Australia. The world is getting smaller and stories are getting bigger.
International co-production will take centre stage at the 2010 conference by building relationships and exploring common ground, sharing experiences and teaming up for business.
Always innovative, AIDC 2010 will throw a focus onto locative media technology through a program strand called Where? This strand will look at how GPS and mapping technologies will revolutionise the media.

Stanley Hawes Award
The AIDC is calling for nominations for the prestigious AIDC Stanley Hawes Award for outstanding contribution to Australian documentary. This $5000 Award recognises practitioners for their body of work (encompassing all craft areas) and who have enhanced the value and awareness of documentary in Australia.
The nominated individual may be a producer, director, editor, cinematographer, sound recordist or any other practitioner in the field of Australian documentary. For more information please click here.
[ITVS] International Funding Opportunity
ITVS International promotes the exchange of compelling documentary films between the United States and other nations, going beyond stereotypes and headline news.
ITVS International Call enables independent producers from outside the United States to create documentaries for U.S. television. Through the Call, storytellers from other countries introduce U.S. audiences to their global neighbours, opening a window into unfamiliar lives, experiences and perspectives from around the world.
ITVS International Call seeks films in production or post-production phase and encourages independent producers to submit their projects for consideration. Deadline for applications - 5 February 2010.

Mini Documentary Competition
Australian Ethical in association with the Documentary Australia Foundation is seeking entries in a competition for very short documentary films on the theme of Corporate Responsibility and the Environment. Deadline for entries - 18 December 2009.

The World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) is a member-run, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to celebrating the best in science, history and other factual television genres.
Leading international producers and broadcasters collaborate to develop dynamic member-produced panels and talks – a "by-the-industry and for-the-industry" model that always ensures relevant topics and valuable behind-the-scenes insight.
The 17th annual World Congress of Science and Factual Producers will take place in Melbourne, Australia, from 1-4 December 2009.

Thirteen Australian Documentaries Selected for IDFA
Thirteen Australian documentaries will screen at the International
Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) when the festival kicks off on 19 November.
