Associate Professor Cathy Henkel is the Course Coordinator of post-graduate courses in the WA Screen and Media Academy at Edith Cowan University (ECU). She is a multi award-winning documentary filmmaker with 30+ years’ experience.

Cathy Henkel’s films have screened in over 26 countries and broadcast on ABC, BBC, CBC, PBS and HBO. She won the Tribeca Best Feature Documentary Award, SPA Documentary Producer of the Year, two IF Awards, an Emmy nomination and multiple festival awards. Her most recent film, Laura’s Choice is streaming on ABC iView and on the YouTube True Story Documentary Channel.

In 2023, Cathy received AIDC’s Stanley Hawes Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Australian documentary and factual sector.
