AIDC 2022 STARTS SUNDAY
ARE YOU READY TO BEAR WITNESS?
GET SET FOR AIDC 2022
AIDC 2022 commences this Sunday 6 March, kicking off four days of learning, deal-making and inspiration. Join us as we explore the theme Bearing Witness across 40-plus sessions, panels and masterclasses, in an event featuring the contributions of over 90 speakers and the opportunity to meet more than 100 global industry decision makers.
Our theme, Bearing Witness, will consider how documentaries have continued to bring us vital stories from the frontlines to the margins during unprecedented times. By unpacking several sub-themes: On the Record, Truth to Power, Moments in Time, Documenting History and Future Visions – the 2022 program is certain to provoke discussion and inspire new storytelling.
This year’s program highlights include spotlight sessions with triple-Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen (Flee), and Academy Award®-shortlisted investigative filmmaker Nanfu Wang (In the Same Breath), both presented by VicScreen.
We also welcome Academy Award®-winning Australian producer Eva Orner (Burning) in a special keynote presented by ACMI; as well as with Netflix docuseries hit-makers Chapman and Maclain Way (Wild Wild Country, Untold) in a session presented by Netflix.
Other anticipated sessions include a special in-conversation with Blackfella Films’ Darren Dale and Jacob Hickey, presented by Screen NSW; plus, a compelling discussion with TIME’s Co-Head of Documentary Loren Hammonds, and a striking in-conversation with renowned producer and former Co-Head of Amazon Studios, Ted Hope – both presented by VicScreen.
AIDC’s ever-popular social events and parties will also return in-person during AIDC 2022, giving delegates the chance to catch-up with friends (old and new) and celebrate the opportunity to come together again.
AIDC SESSION: IN THE RING WITH THE WAY BROTHERS
AIDC SESSION: HOPE VS. REALITY: IN CONVERSATION WITH TED HOPE
AIDC 2022 makes history as AIDC’s first ever hybrid event – being held both online and in-person at ACMI, Melbourne. After the challenges of the past two years, we are thrilled to be able to reunite the Australian documentary and factual sector for a slate of exciting industry and business activities.
This year’s hybrid conference model has opened up a world of opportunity within AIDC’s busy international Marketplace and Cut to the Chase meetings program – featuring an increased presence from streaming giants, including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and Stan. Delegates now benefit from greater access to one of our largest ever contingents of decision makers – with the ability to easily set one-on-one meetings via our online event platform.
For those seeking the dynamism of AIDC’s FACTory International Pitching Showcase, the event returns live in 2022, with 13 fascinating new projects set to pitch to local and global decision makers across the Central Showcase, New Talent Showcase, and Rough Cut Pitch.
