AIDC 2024 Fresh Cuts Documentary Pitch Projects Announced

SIX TEAMS TO PITCH IN SCREEN AUSTRALIA & AIDC INITIATIVE FOR DOCUMENTARIES THAT APPEAL TO YOUNGER AUDIENCES

We are thrilled to reveal the six projects selected for the second Fresh Cuts Documentary Pitch at AIDC 2024, co-presented by Screen Australia.

The Fresh Cuts Documentary Pitch is designed to seek out market interest and development funding for new and exciting documentary projects with stories that appeal to younger audiences, aged 15-35.

The six teams will pitch their projects live on Sunday 3 March to a panel of leading global industry experts, with three successful pitches set to receive up to $30,000 in development funding from Screen Australia.

PARADISE CAMP: HOMECOMING

Acclaimed Fa’afafine artist, Yuki Kihara brings her Venice Biennale exhibition Paradise Camp home to Sāmoa, audaciously confronting climate action, colonialism, and gender identity. She is transforming Sāmoa into a Fa’afafine Paradise.

In the lead-up to the live pitch at AIDC, Fresh Cuts mentors Yvonne Ashley Kouadjo (Series Producer, The New York Times Op-Docs, USA) and Jess Langely (Senior Producer, Truce, Australia) will offer pitch training and feedback to teams.

The Fresh Cuts decision maker panel will include Opal H. Bennett, Senior Producer, POV / Executive Producer, POV Shorts, American Documentary, Inc. (USA), Christine Kecher, Senior Commissioning Editor, The New York Times Op-Docs (USA), Sarah Lash, Senior Director of Acquisitions, Condé Nast (USA), Hollie Fifer, Director of Australian Programs, Doc Society (Australia), Chloe Cassidy, Executive Producer – Development, ABC (Australia), Mia Falstein-Rush, Program Manager, Melbourne International Film Festival (Australia), Cieron Cody, Investment & Development Manager – Documentary, Screen Australia (Australia), and Louise Cocks, Investment & Development Manager – Online, Screen Australia (Australia).
