AIDC Awards 'Umbrellas of the Acrobats' At DMZ Docs Industry
Project by Mukesh Subramaniam & Ponvishal Chidambaranathan selected for marketplace attendance support
Recently taking place in Paju, South Korea from 28 September to 2 October, DMZ Docs Industry saw 20 global projects in various stages of production participate in this year’s industry pitch.
AIDC Industry Manager Lauren Valmadre attended the DMZ Docs Pitch and presented the AIDC Award to project Umbrellas of the Acrobats (India), pitched by director Mukesh Subramaniam and producer Ponvishal Chidambaranathan. The award includes two complimentary All Access Passes to AIDC 2025 and a fee waiver to The FACTory.
“AIDC is thrilled to award the amazing filmmaking team of Umbrellas of the Acrobats the AIDC Prize at this year’s DMZ Industry Docs. Mukesh Subramaniam and Vishal Chidambaranathan are exceptional emerging talents with a unique filmmaking style, respectfully capturing the childlike wonder and innocence of their endearing protagonist Vijay, and also the challenging life lessons one inevitably learns as one grows older,” said Lauren.
“We are also thrilled to see that one of our esteemed FACTory alumni, Peter Yam (Blue Island), is also supporting this project and that we both share the same excitement for this terrific team and their potential. We look forward to supporting the team in their next steps in the AIDC marketplace.”
