CALL FOR AIDC BOARD EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT OF AIDC
The Board & Executive team for the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) is now seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) to fill a number of periodic Board Director vacancies.
This is an opportunity for incoming Board members to play an integral role as part of an exciting not-for-profit organisation during a period of growth and expansion in its core activities.
AIDC is committed to supporting and elevating nonfiction storytelling through creative and business opportunities across film, television, streaming, and digital media. It organises a marketplace for documentary and factual productions, provides a space for networking to encourage collaboration between practitioners, and showcases the work of Australian and international producers.

COVID-19 has changed the ways in which the screen and event sectors are run, and in light of this, the current Board of Directors recognises the need for additional expertise to assist AIDC in adapting and sustaining its growth trajectory.
To address this the Board is seeking Expressions Of Interests for Directors with two or more of the following skill sets:
- Knowledge of Governance and Compliance, in not-for-profits preferred
- Sound understanding of the screen industry
- Extensive contacts within the Australian screen and peripheral industries
- Extensive contacts within the international screen and aligned industries
- High level of financial literacy – CPA / B.Com or similar
- Working knowledge of events, conference or festival industry
- First Nations documentary and factual storytelling practice and protocols (specific to interested First Nations applicants only)
- Knowledge of or interest in emerging technologies and innovative storytelling
- Knowledge of and connections with podcast / audio storytelling sector
AIDC is particularly interested in hearing from people from the following sectors:
- Media
- Publishing
- Events
- Public broadcasters / Streamers
- Australian Screen Agencies
- Legal
- Finance and Accounting
AIDC encourages applications from First Nations Australians and people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We are also seeking applicants who are from regional, remote or non-metropolitan Australia especially Western Australia, Far North Queensland & Northern Territory.
We are seeking committed board members who are willing to:
- Attend virtual board meetings approximately every six weeks
- Attend and actively participate in the annual four-day conference in March
- Participate in one or more sub-committees aligned with your field of expertise and/or area of interest
Membership to the AIDC Board of Directors is a voluntary/unpaid position.
