A Vision for the Future of Documentary

Innovation In this interactive session led by Hollie Fifer (Doc Society) and Alex Kelly (Unquiet Collective) - Prash Naik, Ian Darling, Kimberley Benjamin and Eliorah Malifa journey into the future of the documentary and factual storytelling sectors, inviting a bold discussion about what we need to put in place to actively shape it for the better.

What will the future of the documentary and factual sectors look like ten years from now? Can we collectively shape it for the better? In this special interactive session, we continue a series of conversations spanning Skoll World Forum, Cannes, and now AIDC – helping imagine and articulate a new and better ecosystem for filmmakers and audiences.

This Australian adaptation invites Prash Naik (Creators Counsel / Doc Society), Kimberley Benjamin, Ian Darling (Shark Island Institute), and Eliorah Malifa (Pasifika Film Festival) to take the stage, each with five minutes to share their vision for the future of documentary. After the four have spoken, we then turn to the AIDC community of delegates. Through interactive discussions, this session will offer delegates actionable insights, a stronger sense of community, and a vision for the future of the documentary landscape.

Facilitated by Hollie Fifer (Doc Society) and Alex Kelly (Unquiet Collective), this is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking conversation about how we can actively shape the future we want to see for ourselves, our communities and the next generation of storytellers and industry leaders.
