LET'S MAKE ENDS MEET: CO-PRODUCING WITH CANADA
Collective Intelligence The teams behind The Kingdom and Bondi Vet: Coast to Coast walk us through their experiences with the co-pro process.
The notion of entering into an International Treaty co-production can be daunting, but working with overseas partners can help producers maximise finance opportunities, build sustainable business models and gain access to international audiences. While finding your co-pro partners at the other end of the world can feel a bit like dating long distance, co-producing with Canada can be hugely beneficial as long as producers are well-informed and realistic.
In this session we’ll explore two very different co-productions with Canada: The Kingdom and Bondi Vet: Coast to Coast. Join us for an upbeat and in-depth discussion with Blue Ant Media, CBC, WTFN and savvy producers from Australia and Canada as we delve into the intricacies of producing with Canada.
What is a Treaty co-pro? How complicated is the paperwork? What are key differences between the two countries’ funding systems? What do Canadian and Australian audiences have in common? Our panel of high profile producers and broadcasters will bust the myths, reveal the pros and cons, and walk us through how collaborations between Australia and Canada actually play out in the real world.
Sam Linton will be joining this conversation via Skype.
