Screen Australia: New Voices, New Screens
Business Meet the new executive team from Screen Australia as they discuss new developments in the Australian documentary and factual landscape.
Since early 2020, the Screen Australia Docs Unit has reconfigured with a new team of Investment managers, drawn from a wide range of industry experience. Like the sector itself, they’ve been working continuously to support a wide range of projects amid all the challenges experienced during recent disruptions.
In this session, we will meet the new Screen Australia documentary executive team, and hear about new legislative settings now in place to address the challenges of COVID, and the latest evolution in Screen Australia documentary funding programs across platforms. Drawing on collected data, the team will present observations of the documentary ‘ecosystem’ and how the increasing demand for doc content on new screens may influence production and financing.
Screen Australia will also amplify their continued commitment to supporting projects where diversity, inclusivity and authentic storytelling are central across all funds, and ways in which producers can develop their projects with these factors in mind. Despite the challenges the sector has been facing, work of the highest quality and powerful impact has still been released, and opportunities and subsidies are growing.
