Indigenous Creators Pitch Announced for AIDC 2025
PRESENTED BY AIDC AND SUPPORTED BY INDIGENOUS BUSINESS AUSTRALIA (IBA)
We are proud to present the inaugural Indigenous Creators Pitch at AIDC 2025, a new initiative of AIDC’s Indigenous Creators Program, both supported by Indigenous Business Australia (IBA).
The Indigenous Creators Pitch is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers with a documentary or factual project in development. It provides an opportunity to pitch to a closed room of local and international buyers looking to support Indigenous-led nonfiction screen stories. One project will be selected to receive the $5,000 Indigenous Creators Pitch Prize presented by AIDC.
Submissions are now invited by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander practitioners looking to take their new, bold and distinctive stories to the next level. Four projects will be selected to pitch and receive mentoring and marketplace support prior to and during AIDC 2025.
The pitch will be in a roundtable format and take place during AIDC 2025 on Tuesday 4 March 2025. All Indigenous Creators Program participants will also be invited to the pitch session to support the pitching teams and glean industry insights from pitch decision makers.
Applications close Tuesday 28 January 2025.

“The Indigenous Creators Program is designed by and for First Nations storytellers and since its launch in 2019, we have welcomed 394 new and returning creators to participate in the program at AIDC,” said Natasha Gadd, AIDC’s CEO / Creative Director.
“Thanks to the support of Indigenous Business Australia, we are thrilled to enhance the program through the introduction of the Indigenous Creators Pitch for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practitioners and look forward to tracking the bold and unique stories from First Nations creators that come through the inaugural pitch!”
“The first Indigenous Creators Pitch as a part of the AIDC Indigenous Creators Program for 2025 is an exciting milestone for the program,” said Devina McPherson, AIDC First Nations Producer.
“It’s an exceptional opportunity that will uncover unique stories from First Nations perspectives, nurture new voices, and creates another avenue to connect to the national and international market. I’m looking forward to seeing what Deadly teams and innovative projects make their pitch in 2025.”

AIDC 2025’s Indigenous Creators Program and Indigenous Creators Pitch are supported by Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), marking the organisation’s debut involvement in AIDC. IBA was created to assist and enhance the economic development opportunities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia – through home ownership, business success, and investment opportunities.
“IBA is proud to support AIDC in celebrating and empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander documentary and factual storytelling,” said Sean Armistead, IBA’s Deputy CEO.
“This project creates valuable opportunities for First Nations creatives to share their stories, build industry connections, and develop the skills they need to thrive. Through the Indigenous Creators Program and the Indigenous Creators Pitch, we’re working together to support First Nations voices to reach the screen and connect with audiences around the world.”
The Indigenous Creators Pitch, presented by AIDC and supported by IBA, is an initiative of the AIDC 2025 Indigenous Creators Program. AIDC 2025 runs 2-5 March 2025 at ACMI, Melbourne / Naarm, followed by an online international marketplace, 6-7 March 2025.
