Alex grew up in Launceston and studied Arts/Law at the University of Tasmania before moving to Canberra.
Alex previously headed up the Producer Offset and Co-production Unit at Screen Australia from Screen Australia’s inception in July 2008 and ran the Producer Offset section at the then Film Finance Corporation Australia (FFC) for a couple of months before that. In that role, Alex was responsible for certifying films for the producer offset and approving projects as Official Co-productions under Australia’s 12 Co-production Arrangements.
Before joining the FFC, Alex worked at the Commonwealth Arts Department in Canberra on international screen production policy, working on the Australian Government’s major 2006 review of film support measures, which ultimately led to Screen Australia and the creation of the Producer, Location and PDV Offsets.
