He has served as producer and director of commercial ads, music videos, TV programs and numerous documentaries for TV Channels such as ARTE, TVE, Canal + France, Canal + Spain, TVG, FR3, TF1, ARD, ZDF, SWF, WDR, MDR, USA Networks, VH1,Calle 13 and Canal 22.

Diego is the former head of programming at DocumentaMadrid, former documentary programmer at Seville European Film Festival, Ronda international film festival, and Festival 4 Écrans. Diego is also a member of the European Film Academy and the Spanish Film Academy.

DocsBarcelona International Documentary Film Festival and Market has been taking place since 1997 in Barcelona. It fosters the development of documentary projects at all stages: development and financing through a public pitch, speed meetings, coproduction meetings, rough-cut screenings and workshops. As well as this, the Doc Series Forum, plus premier and distribution through the festival screenings.

Together with FIPADOC, DOK.fest München and Make Dox they have launched Doc Around Europe network with the common aim to promote creative documentaries, as well as increase their accessibility to wider audiences across the continent

Since 2005, DocsBarcelona of the Month has released 11 documentaries a year (one per month) theatrically in 97 venues across Spain also online and DVD. It was a founder member of Moving Docs.
DocsBarcelona School has a catalogue of 15 courses and workshops targeting both university students and AV professionals. Over 1,400 students have already been trained by DocsBarcelona School.
